Wichita County LEMA Renewal Public Hearing
Hearing set for October 12th, 2026, at 2:00pm at the Wichita County Fairgrounds.
"A public hearing will be held in person at 2:00 PM CDT on Monday, October 12, 2026 at the Wichita County Fairgrounds Building in Leoti, KS to consider whether the revised Wichita County Local Enhanced Management Area (LEMA) Management Plan submitted to the Chief Engineer of the Division of Water Resources, Kansas Department of Agriculture (DWR) by Western Kansas Groundwater Management District No. 1 (GMD1) satisfies the initial requirements for approval, as well as to consider the proposed corrective controls and stated goals. Any interested parties are welcome to submit written or oral statements to be included in the record of the hearing. Oral statements will only be accepted at the hearing, while written statements will be accepted through October 26, 2026.
