House Bill 2451 known as "Use It or Lose It" was signed into law by Governor Brownback on Monday, March 5th, 2012.  This will give landowners incentive to conserve water because they will not feel that they have to use their water right to keep from losing it.  Before this law a water right owner could lose their water right after 5 years of nonuse unless they had it protected in a government program.  Also signed into law was Senate Bill 272 which amended the Multi-Year Flex Account law eliminating the 10% conservation factor.

Check your Flow Meters and Hour Meters

If your flow meters and or hour meters have to be repaired or replaced, you must fill out a "Repair / Replacement Form" within 30 days of the flow meter and or hour meter being repaired or replaced. (Download the Meter Repair Form.  or Hour Meter Form.)
